Our eyes locked, and despite the magical paralysis she was trying to exert, I could will my muscles to move. A twitch of my fingers, a wiggle of my toes; every move was a victory against the power of her succubus thrall. If I tried for bigger, more aggressive movements, I had an idea that I wouldnât get very farâespecially with my magic hampered by our bizarre location.
Emely kept her mouth shut, but I locked away the information about her sister and took on the immediate threat. Riley could be dangerous. I couldnât decide if I liked that or not as she took a few steps toward me, each movement sinuous and loaded with sexual threat. I remained sitting on the rock, outwardly timid and struggling with her power.
Time to find out what would happen if I stopped fighting.
I eased out what little air I had left in my lungs and gave in to the haze that was fogging my brain with so much testosterone, I couldnât function past it. Primal urges shifted through me, and I let them come inside to play.
âYou want me?â As soon as I started moving toward her, the metaphysical barrier around my muscles folded back, and I could move freely again. To be free, I had to give in.
I took another test step toward Emely, and my legs froze up, but only for a moment. My freedom was tied to approaching the succubus, like a force of nature drawing me toward her, where I would serve her needs. Once I righted myself and got back on track toward the succubus, movement became simple; even assisted by a subtle push from her latent power. I took a quick estimate of her thrall, watching as air sawed in and out through her lungs with the rough rise and fall of her breasts. She was as much a slave to her need as I was, a fact I knew many menâand womenâmust have known before. The difference between me and her previous meals was my nature. If I was chosen, then I would find a way to command even as she fed from me. She would not discard me like a husk. Her eyes fluttered with the onset of her need, and I knew she was anticipating the magical hit of energy my body would give her. I had other plans.
âLetâs put this to test, shall we?â I asked.
Before she could muster up a reply, I wrapped one arm around her waist, buried my other hand at the nape of her neck against her hair, and lowered my mouth to hers in a kiss that didnât even try to be cautious. If she was going to drain my life force, I wanted to know fast, and I wanted it to be over quickly. Although it would put a crimp in the prophecy, there was only one way to find out. As her tongue pushed against my lips, demanding entry, I enjoyed the subtle tangle of our tongues, knowing that contact alone wasnât enough.
